International March of the Living mourns the passing of Avraham Hirchson, former Member of Knesset and Israeli Cabinet Minister who initiated the first International March of the Living in 1988 and continued to play a central role for many years. Hundreds of thousands of people around the world have participated in the March of the Living to Poland and Israel as a result of his vision. A staunch defender of Holocaust memory, Avraham Hirchson also advocated passionately on behalf of the rights of Holocaust survivors.
