Spotlight on the March of the Living Southern Region who hosted its annual Kristallnacht Commemorative Program this year. The event featured “Jewish Voices,” a poignant musical performance by Arnaud Sussmann, a third-generation Holocaust survivor, Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Society of Palm Beach, and violinist. Drawing inspiration from his grandfather’s survival of Auschwitz-Birkenau, Sussmann, alongside pianist Michael Brown, performed works by Jewish composers whose lives were profoundly affected by the Holocaust, including Robert Dauber, Samuel Adler, Erwin Schulhoff, and Mieczysław Weinberg.
Their community, including many March of the Living alumni, gathered to remember, educate, and honor the local survivors for their contributions to both their community and the March of the Living. They were fortunate to have over 50 local survivors in attendance.
