On January 29, 2018, Danny Danon, Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, hosted a Holocaust Remembrance Day program marking the opening of the International March of the Living exhibit “Witness” at the United Nations Building. There were 380 attendees for the evening, including United Nations Ambassadors from over 40 countries.
The exhibit, which commemorates the 30th anniversary of the March of the Living, includes moving and powerful reflections and images of Holocaust survivors and students who have traveled on the March of the Living since 1988.
The event included spoken and musical presentations from past participants in the March of the Living – survivors and students — along with special musical performances by celebrated Israeli musical artists, Miri Mesika, David D’or and Amir Benayoun. March of the Living musical artists Happie Hoffman, Eric Hunker, along with violinist Alicia Svigals performed during the evening.
Other speakers included Holocaust survivor Irving Roth, and International March of the Living President Phyllis Greenberg Heideman who delivered the closing remarks. The MC for the event was March of the Living alumna and author Jordana Lebowitz.
