Yad Vashem is starting the New Year with an act of remembrance to those lost in the Holocaust.

The Shoah memorial and trust, which is located in Jerusalem, shared images from its archives of events that occurred in the Holocaust during the month of January.

The events include the liberation of Auschwitz, which happened in January of 1945, and the disappearance of Righteous Holocaust hero Raoul Wallenberg, which happened in January 1946.
